SPRING CREEK LAUE NIKOLSDORF
The Nikolsdorfer Lauen are groundwater outflows, always flow crystal clear, are winter-warm and summer cool. We have a pure game stock of brown trout, mixed with some graylings and some rainbow trout. The shores are partly overgrown and in the open routes you should approach the water very carefully. The Lauen are a good school - you learn to throw very precisely and can watch the fish in the attack on the flies on a short leash.
All fish are here from natural reproduction, at Easter time large huchen from the Drau rise to spawn here. A short time later, the grayling follows the same tracks, which is always a worth seeing spectacle. Many of these juveniles migrate later in their growth into the Drau.
For fishing this approximately 3.5 km long route starting at the main road at the airfield and ending at the Bahnhofstraße in Nikolsdorf we recommend light equipment, short rods and throw from the shore. Small flies and careful acting bring many beautiful wild fish. In this section the dry fly or nymph without barbs and without exception catch and release.
